There’s nothing quite like Arbequina olive oil. Maybe it’s that lavish tropical perfume, its silky smooth texture, that delicate taste or those subtle hints of almonds… it really is liquid gold! This month we are happy to welcome back Oli, the elegant aceite courtesy of the award winning Mas d'en Gil in Priorat.
It is made using olives from trees planted in the 1870’s located on the steep slate slopes of the Vall del Bellmunt in Catalonia. Handpicked and cold extracted to obtain the highest amount of fruitiness, the process allows for those distinctive tropical aromas to stay fully in tact. There is no filtering here, rather the oil in decanted to leave a delicate oil with remarkably low acidity oozing of sophistication and begging to dress your salads.
Oli works well drizzled over vegetables or grilled meat or fish, once taken off the grill. It is ideal for Catalan tomato bread (Pa amb Tomaquet). If you are serving chocolate, why not add a few drops of this oil and a dash of salt to really take it to another level? Pure bliss!
